Making a Difference
Can seniors make a difference in our congregations, our communities, and our own lives? Keynote speaker, Dr. Joel Heck, will remind us of how Martin Luther changed the world, as we approach the 500th anniversary of the Reformation in 2017. Workshop opportunities (3 this year) will explore how we can indeed make a difference in our lives and the lives of others.
Luther Made a Difference
Rev. Dr. Joel Heck serves Concordia University Texas as Professor of Theology. He teaches courses in Old Testament, New Testament, Reformation history, and C. S. Lewis. He is the author or editor of thirteen books, most recently a reprint of the Socratic Digest, and he maintains a C. S. Lewis website at joelheck.com. He and his wife Cheryl have three grown children and live in Austin, Texas.
Dr. Heck will speak about the personal life of Martin Luther, how it combined with his theology and his practice in leading the Protestant Reformation in Europe. He will present Luther as a man of principle, intelligence, insight, and phenomenal memory, whose deteriorating health can account for some of his missteps late in life.
